The Eagle Pass City Council approved the purchase of office equipment and furniture for the City of Eagle Pass Public Safety Complex during their meeting held on Monday, November 18, 2019.

City Finance Director Jesse Rodriguez provided the City Council with information regarding the extensive process.

Rodriguez stated that the City had gone through the procurement process through the States Buy Board and had received two proposals.

“The City requested quotes from three vendors on purchasing cooperatives, for the project of providing furniture for the Safety Complex buildings (Police and Fire). Two submissions were received. The submissions were reviewed by a scoring panel composed of four City employees. The Panel recommendation is to award the project to Workplace Resources who had the highest overall score,” said Rodriguez.

The total cost of the proposal contract is approximately $547,475.

The price could vary after it is completely executed and could be lowered.

The other proposal was at $578,000.

The Eagle Pass City Council approved the item on a unanimous vote.

For several years the city has been planning and working on the $6.3 million dollar City of Eagle Pass Public Safety complex.

After numerous delays the city is on pace to be able to open the new facility that will house the Eagle Pass Police and Fire Department by the beginning of the new year.

The facility will be complete by January 31, 2020, and is under construction by Gonzalez De La Garza and Superintendent Cesar Esquivel.
