Two individuals were given the opportunity to address City Council in the Citizen's Communications and Recognitions portion of the agenda. The first was by citizen Agustin Reyes who spoke in favor of the council recommending Barrientos for the position citing her experience of knowing the problems the city faces as well as her work ethic, effort and responsibility in doing so. "I look into a bright future with her in this position," stated Reyes before stating that with her in this position, "I'm sure our city will prosper and will be an example for surrounding communities." Paco Mondragon of MonDragon Real Estate was also on hand to request what he termed de-annexation of property along Second Street where he says a hotel is considering coming to Eagle Pass. Mondragon also mentioned that a tractor supply company is also in the process of building in the same general vicinity. "We have not been able to respond to when we would be able to begin construction," stated the realtor. He went on to cite the 14% unemployment rate in Eagle Pass and that these businesses would create 100 new jobs for the citizens of this community.
