The Team Ferny Run was held this Sunday at Shelby Park and was a very succesful running event as many people from acroos the state were on hand to take part in the first of many Team Ferny 5k/10k runs in our area. Runners from Mexico, San Antonio, Austin and across Texas gathered to run in a highly competitive race that took runners through scenic downtown and along our Mexican border on a surprisingly cool and pleasent day for a run.
Team Ferny plans to host this event next year and encourages runners to look out for their next event whcih will be even bigger.
The overall winners of the event were 16 year old cross country stand out Hector Alvarez who ran the 10K in 39.22 and 19 year old Leslie Perez. For the 5k race the overall winners were Guillermo Rodriguez with a 19.26 and Blanca Zamora who finished in 21.56.
Awards were given for top three finishers in their category, results are listed below.
