Assistant Band Director Corina Meza graciously informed The News Gram of the intricacies of this year's show which begins subtly with "Atnadja" which features trumpet soloists Abner Chavez and Humberto Garza which is followed by "Ninkou La Tora" an uptempo rhythym which includes the entire band and leads up to the theme of "Quidam" featuring Guadaliupe Krezdorn on bass clarinet, Amairani Chavez on clarinet, Francisco Garcia on the violin Gerardo Camarillo on alto sax and MichelleTreviñoon the flute. Next is the upbeat crescendo of the program "Incantation" which brings this year's 2013 entry to a roaring finish. The Eagle Pass High School Marching Band is directed by David Solis, and assisted by Corina Meza, John Muñoz, Eduardo Bulnes, Maribel Lozano and Arnaldo Menchaca. The CC Winn High School Thunderin' Maverick Marching Band placed 3rd with their clasical classics show which opens with the 1st movement, "Arioso" by Johann Sebastian Bach featuring Mark Saldivar on alto sax followed by Movement 2 "Turkish Battle Medley" a medley of both Beethhoven's and Mozart's version of these two versions of "Turkish Battle." Camille Saint-Saens' "The Swan" makes an appearnace in this year's show featuring Rolando Martinez on tenor sax then Movement 4 is "Frenzy" a medley of 12 classical tunes which rounds off CC Winn's entry in what will be the 2013 UIL Marching Contest on October 19th at Gustafson Stadium in San Antonio. The CC Winn High School Marching Band is directed by Carlos Martinez and assisted by Alejo Garza, Ruben Rodriguez, Roberto Rodriguez, Jorge Vargas and Abel Granados. Both bands travel back to the Alamo City to experience the turf at Gustafson for the Northside Marching Contest in the morning, then they're off to the Harlandale Marching Contest at Memorial Stadium. Good luck and Godspeed to both bands (Who have turned in years and years of consecutive First Divisions) all the way through state.

The Mighty Eagle Marching Band under the direction of David Solis returned with a 2nd Place finish from "Drums Along the Medina" the marching contest hosted by the Dragons of Southwest High School. CC Winn's Thundering Maverick Marching Band Placed also brought back a 3rd Place from the contest. The Mighty Eagle Marching Band impressed the judges with their version of "Qidam," a show we have already done in the past, an award winning performance back in 2005 under then director Raul Gonzalez.
