On Tuesday, November 13, 2012, Maverick County Sheriff Dept. Deputies under the administration of Sheriff Tomas S. Herrera were dispatched to Quemado, Texas in reference to two suspicious vehicles in the area. Upon arrival, Deputies noticed a 2003 blue in color PT Cruiser and a 2001 gray in color Ford Mustang leaving the area, one behind the other. Deputies then conducted a traffic stop on the 2001 Ford Mustang who then identified himself as Oscar Octavio Ugarte Jr. While making contact with Mr. Ugarte, Deputies noticed two green in color military bags in the backseat of the vehicle, consistent with narcotic smuggling. A second traffic stop was conducted on the 2003 PT Cruiser whose driver was identified as Edgar Uriel Garcia. Further investigation resulted that said vehicle was the scout vehicle for Mr. Ugarte while he transported the narcotics into Eagle Pass, Texas. A total of two green in color military style bags containing the narcotic marijuana were retrieved from the vehicle with a total net weight of 161 .5 Ibs. Both drivers were arrested and transported to the Maverick County Sheriff Department. Case still under investigation by the Maverick County Investigation Department Unit.
