Eagle Pass authorities and Maverick County met to adopt a major security plan for all Eagle Pass schools.
The meeting took place at the District Service Center Board Room and all gathered went over measures to step up security in the wake of the Newtown tragedy in Connecticut.
EPISD Police authorities along with US Border Patrol officials, officers of the Texas Department of Public Safety, EPPD, the Maverick County Sheriff's Department among others attended.
EPISD Superintendent Gilbert Gonzalez informed The News Gram that the US Border Patrol and the Sheriff's Department will back up the EPISD's efforts to secure our schools and the safety of its children.
These agencies will help to reinforce security at schools such as Rosita Valley, Sam Houston, Mancha and Maude Mae Kirschner in Quemado.
The State of Texas has asked that all districts do what they must to make sure that an incident such as the one at Sandy Hook Elementary never happens here.
