DPS presents to school board

The Eagle Pass Independent School District had a presentation pertaining to the district’s coordination with the Department of Public Safety on school safety. 

During the EPISD Board of Trustees meeting held on Monday, September 11, the Board received a presentation from DPS Lieutenant Romelio Flores who is overseeing operations in the area. “We are ready to assist the community and district in any way possible,” said Flores. 

 Lieutenant Flores presented information to the School Board in regards to the initiative which included a briefing and overview of possible measures that can enhance the safety of the Eagle Pass Independent School District Schools by partnering with local law enforcement and school officials on ways to increase DPS law enforcement visibility on campuses and at local school events. 

EPISD Board of Trustees President Lupita Fuentes thanked Flores and all DPS officials for the work they do to keep our highways safe. Fuentes added that this type of partnerships is important to the school district in assuring the safety of the students, administration, faculty, and families. 

DPS and the EPISD Police Department will begin working together immediately.
