A new day for athletics in Eagle Pass has come as both Eagle Pass High School Eagles and the CC Winn High School Mavericks embark on a new journey, a new adventure in athletics and academics, one we have not seen since the early 80's and mid 90's when Eagle Pass was in the same district with San Antonio John Jay, Holmes, Marshall, Clark, and later O'Connor and Taft. Biennial reclassification went down on Monday, February 3rd in Austin as athletic directors attended the University Interscholastic League's latest re-alignment sessions which left Eagle Pass High School in a six school district in the new AAAAAA classification with the Laredo United Longhorns, the Alexander Bulldogs, the United South Panthers, the Del Rio Rams, former Eagle Head Coach Oki Villaseñor's LBJ Wolves and Coach Tom Gonzalez' Eagle Pass Eagles in what is now 29-AAAAAA.
