 A Christmas celebration in Eagle Pass turned bloody as an attack on three family members in the Chula Vista sector of our city resulted in three injuries and one man being flown to a San Antonio hospital with a gunshot wound. The incident occurred on Mesquite Street, in Chula Vista in south Maverick County when a quarrel between two families left two people beaten and a young man with a gunshot wound to the chest.

On Tuesday, December 17th, Eagle Pass News Gram Sports Reporter Rey Sifuentes, Jr. suddenly and stunningly passed away leaving all of us here at your Eagle Pass News Gram in a state of solemn disbelief. Sifuentes, as all of our varsity coaches at both Eagle Pass High School and CC Winn High School know, would work from his home office in Mount Pleasant, Texas to assist us in covering the sports accolades, accomplishments and achievements of our local Eagles and Mavericks in a way all his own.

On Monday, the news of the passing of Sergio Ramirez, the Manager of the 2010 Eagle Pass American Little League All Stars who fell to Pearland 7-5 and were one game shy of reaching the hallowed ground of Williamsport, Pennsylvania. Coach Ramirez, Coach Enrique Gomez Ramirez's son Jonathan who got the game winning hit that catapulted the team to the championship and the rest of the team took us on the most incredible ride as we all remember where we were if we were not in Waco on that day. Godspeed, Coach Ramirez, you will be missed.
