City Manager Gloria Barrientos confirmed that there are over $200,000.00 in surplus funds left for Fiscal Year 2013.
Barrientos stated that these funds will be allocated to Public Works in order to continue vital repairs to the city's drainage system and arroyos which were damaged during flooding in June.
The funds will not be allocated for any other reasons be they personnel issues and or to fill any vacancies.
Barrientos stated that these funds will be allocated for the city's most important issues at hand, in this case the drainage repairs which are undergoing as we speak in order for them to be up and functioning in case of any further heavy rains.

An accident which occurred some time between 9:30 and 10:00 A.M. has claimed the life of at least one Eagle Pass youth and her mother.
The accident occurred approximately two miles out of Del Rio on Highway 277 and involved their private vehicle and a large commercial vehicle.
Emergency medical personnel, law enforcement vehicles and rescue vehicles were all dispatched to the scene at approximately 9:30 A.M. a couple of miles outside of Del Rio near the city limits adjacent to Chavira Elementary.
The Texas Department of Public Safety is conducting the investigation on this tragic turn of events which has left Eagle Pass and one of our high schools reeling once again with the emotion of yet another loss of life on our Texas highways.

Sandra Martinez, Executive Director of The Eagle Pass Chamber of Commerce and Victor Garcia, 2nd Unit Director for HEB, met with the press on Tuesday morning to graciously inform us of the initial planning stages of the Annual feast of Sharing which is scheduled for sometime in November and will once again be held at the Eagle Pass International Center for Trade.
The 18th Annual event, held on November 24th, 1996 at Eagle Pass High School, is an event which is a landmark event for HEB each and every year in which they reach out to the community and thank them for all their support throughout the year.
