    It was a tale of two halves at the United ISD Student Activity Complex in Laredo as the Eagle Pass Eagles, coming off a convincing 52-21 victory over the McAllen Bulldogs in the Bi-District round of the State Playoffs took on the 11-0 Edinburgh Vela Sabrecats on Friday.

    The Eagles came out moving the football in normal fashion mixing high percentage passing with the running ability of DeeAndre Torres to matriculate the ball into field goal range on their first possession of the game to take an early 3-0 lead after a 27 yard field goal by All-Purpose Player of the Year Jose Riojas.

    The Sabrecats would answer with a prolonged drive that ended on a four yard run by junior running back Aaron Alvarez, 7-3 Vela.

    The Eagles answered quickly with an eleven yard strike from Quarterback Richie Luna to Wideout Albert Guevara to put the Border Birds back on top 10-7.
