According to EPPD Public Information Officer Beto Garza, a serious motor vehicle collision occurred at approximately 12:00 a.m. Tuesday morning. The Eagle Pass Police Department responded to an emergency call that involved a 2012 blue Ford Focus that had apparently crashed into an apartment building on the corner of Bibb St. and Second St. The vehicle impacted a tree and the exterior wall of the apartment causing substantial damages. Briones Wrecker Service took charge of clearing the scene and removing the heavily damaged vehicle.

Two adults, a male driver and female passenger,  required medical attention at the scene and were subsequently transferred to the emergency room for further treatment.

The police report further indicates that the driver of the vehicle was then transferred to a hospital in San Antonio due to the severity of the injuries. Blood and alcohol samples were taken from the driver and currently are being analyzed to determine if he was indeed under the influence of alcohol or other substances. If the investigation determines that there was alcohol involved in the accident, the police department will seek an arrest warrant for the individual as well as additional charges.

Fortunately, there were no injuries reported to the people inside the apartment at the time of incident. The collision did however cause extensive damages to the exterior walls of the apartment building.
