In a related note in reference to the Special Meeting held at Commissioner's Court on Thursday, seven pickups were purchased for Maverick County detectives at a cost of $161,391.00 from a dealership called Caldwell County Chevrolet. These vehicles were in fact purchased with confiscated funds on August 15, 2012.

The Special Meeting held on Thursday, Maverick County Commissioner's Court approved two items which will benefit our community long-term, as leases were approved to assist two businesses who are making commitments to the business sector in our community.

The latest news to surface in terms of the 132 prisoners who have escaped from the Piedras Negras Centro de Readaptación Social (CERESO) is that three of the prisoners have been apprehended. Two in Zaragoza and one in Monclova as late as 11:30 P.M. on Wednesday. The first two Mauro Antonio Valdés González and Jorge Mendoza Bárcenas were captured in the municipality of Zaragoza, Coahuila traveling in a 4x4 pickup with Texas license plates and in the possession of two AK-47 assault rifles and two AR-15 assault rifles along with an array of ammunition.
