The Eagle Pass Eagles squared off in a showdown for the ages as they both bolted out to a 16-16 tie at the half after the Longhorns won the toss and elected to receive to only gain three in their opening possession and proceeded to three and out giving the Eagles the ball on the 43. DeShawn Franklin broke off a significant run which took him deep into Longhorn territory to the one yard line, however a holding call brought the play back. The Eagles would not be denied on this night and they fought their way back to the on where Ty Chisum was able to haul it in for the initial Eagle score, but it would be called back by the officials for illegal procedure. Chisum then handed off to Franklin who headed for the right side of the United Defense when he handed it off to RJ Ruiz who showed some passing skills hitting Chisum in the end zone for the third Eagle TD, but this TOO was called back on a personal foul and brought back to the 16 yet again.

The CC Winn Mavericks had to work from behind to try to catch up to Isaac Cabello's United South Panthers as the Panthers jumped out to a quick 14-0 lead early in the game and a botched snap gave the ball back to the Panthers with little time left on the clock before the half. This is where Cabello found daylight to scamper into the endzone for the 21-0 lead at the break. United South received the second half kickoff and proceeded to matriculate down the field, but Carlos Cerezo jumped a post pattern thrown into the endzone for the interception.

A huge crowd of Eagle fans were treated to a fabulous 2013 Homecoming as the Eagle Pass Eagles and their defense put on a show for the ages picking off passes and halting a formidable United South offense possession after possession. Linebacker Mando Lopez turned the tables with a thirty yard interception return for a touchdown early in the second quarter to give the Eagles a lead they would never relinquish after his partners in crime stopped a Panther drive early to hold them to a field goal. The Lopez pick six was not his only interception of the evening as he got another later in the game, but the story of the night was the Eagle Defense rising to the occasion to give Eagle Pass its first District 29-AAAAA victory putting them in a tie for second behind loop leaders United and Alexander.
