 In the trenches, my father used to tell me, things go on that are not even seen by the referees on the field. His horror stories often included what some may call 'Cheap shots' but he also used to say that turnabout is fair play and when it comes down to having to line up against the biggest, fastest, strongest players on the opposing team for four quarters every Friday night, Sammy Ibarra, was a diminutive, fiery player who lettered four years for Cozel Foster's Eagle Pass Eagles and was All District three of the four, #62 used to say, "Anything goes.", and usually that's the nature of playing on the offensive line.

A.D. Ibarra -Laredo, TX

The Eagle Pass Eagles traveled to Laredo on a rare Thursday Night matchup against the United South Panthers and came away with a convincing 21-0 victory. In the second quarter, the Eagles managed to put together a sustained drive behind the running of Jesse Sanchez, Carlos Villarreal and Willie Lopez to set up a three yard QB sneak by QB Ty Chisum.

The CC Winn Mavericks traveled to the Queen City to take on the Del Rio Rams at Levermann Stadium in their first District 29-AAAAA tilt of the season.

 

The spirit of Carl Guys had to be feeling the Friday Night Lights and he was probably wondering why Eagle Pass was donned in Silver & Black as the Rams drew first blood on a fifty yard drive that culminated in a spectacular 12 yard run by Ram QB Jorge Fernandez.
