The Eagle Pass Eagles and
the CC Winn Mavericks
opened up the season with a
very close game on Monday
afternoon, and the Eagles
found a way to come away
with a 5-3 victory. “We
played very well and we’re
heading in the right direction,”
said Head Baseball
Coach Heriberto Roiz of the
Mavericks, “It’s our time to
evaluate talent and we did it
against a tough opponent.”
Roiz said he had five
pitchers go in this game.
Sophomore Jorge Robledo,
senior Alex Treviño, senior
Francisco Rivas, junior
Jared Roiz and senior
Brandon Villaseñor.
“We have a long way to
go, but we’re hitting
our spots. Offensively;
Villaseñor, Jared, Robledo
and Rivas were productive.
They hit the ball well, put
the ball in play and drew
walks.”
The Mavericks scored one
in the first, as did the Eagles.
Winn scored another in the
fourth, but the Eagles
responded with three to take
a lead they would not relinquish.
