SPRING, Texas — 16-year-old boy has been airlifted from a high school in suburban Houston with stab wounds suffered in an altercation at the campus. The fight involved multiple students Wednesday inside Spring High School, about 20 miles north of Houston.

Parent Lakesia Brent says her son, a sophomore at the school, told her students were seen bleeding and at least one was seen on a gurney with blood-soaked clothing. The Harris County Sheriff's Office says it responded about 7 a.m. to the school to a report of a stabbing. A dispatcher for the air ambulance at Memorial Hermann-Texas Medical Center in Houston confirmed the 16-year-old was transported shortly before 8 a.m. The school was under lockdown but parents have been told that students will be released to their care Wednesday morning.
